Kate Gorr

6th - 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher

Born in England and raised in Hancock Park, Kate Gorr attended Marlborough School and the University of Southern California where she played Varsity tennis. “Kate Callaghan was the best athlete in the neighborhood - girl or boy - and that includes her two brothers.  She was a phenomenal athlete,” remarked one of her childhood coaches. It was at USC where Kate met her husband, Robb, an administrator and coach at Loyola High School. The Gorrs share a love of learning and working with young people!

Kate started at St. Brendan in 2001 as the 3rd grade teacher before becoming the 6th grade teacher and middle school history teacher.  As Kate’s career continued she transitioned out of the homeroom position and devoted herself to the history curriculum. Kate says, “My approach to educating young people has evolved over many years.  I still love telling the ‘story of history’ but especially enjoy when students are engaged in project learning.”

When she is not on campus, Kate  is knee deep in her children’s activities; school, soccer, flag football, swimming, volleyball, dance, and cheerleading! Kate and her husband are devoted Trojan fans who are raising an equally devoted Stanford fan among their four children!  How did that happen?
